Plantin was revived by Frank Hinman Pierpont in 1913. It was redesigned based on the Renaissance Roman of the 16^th century with mechanical typesetting requirements. It all began when Pierpont visited the Plantin-Moretus Museum. He took home the knowledge, photographs, and typeset specimens in order to collaborate with Fritz Stelzer in creating a new text face.

Plantin produces a thick and strong body text appearance which is ideal for coated papers, editorials, periodicals, books, and on the screens. It comes with four weights and their corresponding italics, and four condensed headline styles. The mild sharpening on the serifs is also noticeable.

Gill Sans is designed by the genius Eric Gill under Monotype in between 1928 to 1930. The design was inspired from the typeface of Gill’s teacher.
